The Practical Scientific project "Research of the Factors of Longevity" was completed successfully in the municipalities of Teteven, Yablanitza, Ugarchin, Lukovit, Lovech, Kuklen, the Rhodopes, Plovdiv District and Dolni Dubnik, Pleven District. Interviews were conducted with 121 centenarians and information was obtained on over 294 of their brothers and sisters, 726 parents and grandparents. Many springs were also examined. Scientific publications were made by Prof. Ignatov, Assoc. Prof. Mosin, Assoc. Prof. Velikov, Dr. Timinski and Eng. Bauer.

The practical application of the centenarians research is the project “Nature, Ecology, Longevity”.

Prof. Ignatov shares:
“Before meeting the centenarians, I had a general and theoretical idea. I thought that I will meet people who are ill and have no desire to live. But the surprises began immediately. The first centenarians proved to be perfectly healthy people. Of all respondents, over 80% were completely healthy."

1. The first conclusion is that it is almost impossible for a person to reach 100 years if this person has been suffering from illnesses from his youth

Diseases can be both hereditary and a result of an irregular lifestyle. Aging is associated with the accumulation of errors in DNA replication. Replication is the distribution of genetic material from one mother cell to two daughter cells. Free radicals affect adversely this process. It is known that after 75-85 years human cells have a very small part of the information for DNA replication. With aging, errors in DNA replication increase twice as fast compared to our young years. However, nature has a sense of humor. There are centenarians who completely contradict this conclusion. This shows that the body has great potential for longevity.

2. The second conclusion is that a positive attitude towards life prolongs it

Centenarians have higher vitality and a positive attitude towards life. In PNAS (the journal of the American Academy of Sciences) there are results on the influence of stress on the immune system. Men are at a disadvantage. Two thirds of the respondents were women and one third were men. Is it enough just to meditate and take walks to reduce stress? There are mysteries in human biochemistry. Analysis of the results showed that among the parents and grandparents of the centenarians there is a significantly higher number of men and the ratio is roughly equal between men and women. In the modern world men are under very serious stress.

3. All centenarians have had normal weight throughout their life

There is scientific evidence that then the body enters an “energy saving” mode. Is food sufficient to correct weight? Food is only part of the process. All centenarians have had normal weight throughout their life.

4. Smoking is not a road to longevity

Only three of the 121 centenarians have smoked for several years. Smoking is one of the reasons for the increase of free radicals and hence cancer. Cancer is the antithesis of longevity. Malignant tumors are obtained by the accumulation of errors in DNA replication, and in longevity errors accumulate more slowly. With our training we can help ourselves and many people with regard to cancer prevention with natural methods.

5. Some people say yes, but this centenarian has good heredity

This is true, but the study of 121 centenarians proved that this percentage is not so high. People of inherited longevity are around 40%. The control group consists of the brothers and sisters of the centenarians. Same heredity, but different lifestyle factors that are not good for health. The average difference between the life expectancy of centenarians and their brothers and sisters in the mountainous areas of the municipalities in which the project was completed is 5.8 years, while in the field areas it was 4.2 years. Interviews with centenarians make us think about the values of life, because for each of us has only this life. It is necessary to help many people to reevaluate their lives. It is hard to come out of the state of inertia, the comfort zone with all its amenities. But most often these amenities are not good for health.

6. What is the influence of mountain water and clean air

The biggest surprise came when in the mountainous parts of the municipalities where the project was finished, there were about twice as many centenarians as in the field areas. For distances up to 50-70 km the only difference is mountain water and air. The average age of centenarians in mountainous areas is 94.3, and in field areas – 90.6 The difference is 3.7. The oldest resident in the mountainous areas is 104, and in field areas – 97. What kind of water should we drink in big cities, how to prepare “active” water, can we improve DNA replication with water? The accomplishment of Prof. Ignatov and Ass. Prof. Mosin is very topical with regard to the indirect impact of magnesium, manganese and zinc from mountain water on the antioxidant activity of enzymes in the human body.

7. How to overcome hardly compatible factors for longevity

Here is one of the biggest secrets. We give examples of centenarians from the mountains, but we live in the modern world. However, they do not have quick access to medical services and have not had a medical test for years. Early medical prevention is one of the keys to longevity. Here is some data on the subject by the National Statistical Institute, Bulgaria. In Bulgaria the average life expectancy from 1935 to 1939 was 51.75, while from 2008 to 2010 it was 73.60.

You are all invited to the practical seminar-discussions in the Teteven hotel. We look forward to positive communication on the subject, which indicates a high level of spirituality and health care. The application of energy techniques only indoors, the lack of physical activity due to prolonged computer work, travel by car, etc. is obviously not the optimal model of full and healthy life.

Information about the project "Ecology, Nature, Longevity" is provided to "Days of Mountain Water and Healing Tourism", 11 June, Teteven. Organizers: Scientific and Research Center of Medical Biophysics and Teteven Municipality

Program for the practical scientific project “Nature, Ecology and Longevity”

Introduction – factors of longevity. They are heredity, disease prevention, absence of stress, physical activity, normal weight, clean mountain water and air, quality food.

1. How can one achieve longevity? Why is longevity predetermined by our way of life in our youth? Preventing disease and heredity. What are the sensations that indicate there may be a disease.

2. Why most centenarians live in the mountains? Mountain water – life force. The human body contains about 48-54% water, and at birth it is about 75%. With age, water in the body decreases. How to optimize the drinking of water. Preparation of quality water in cities.

3. Physical activity – a way to longevity. Exercises with the original methodology of Doncho Krastev “Dance of the Spiral”. How to maintain normal body weight.

4. Free radicals age us. Lifestyle, exercise and foods that reduce free radicals.

5. Positive attitude towards life extends it. Stress is also biochemistry. Vitamins and minerals, which improve the status of the nervous system. Ways to reduce toxic substances in the human body.

The program includes two short mountain routes and discussions.
